Why Do We Lose People When We Grow?

While on vacation last week, I did a lot of reading 📚 something I don’t always slow down enough to do. While doing that it brought personal growth front and center in my mind.

And it reminded me of something I’ve experience personally…

As you grow and evolve, some people will pull away.
And sometimes… you won’t even know why.

Friends I thought would be in my corner forever. Even some family.
No drama. No fallout. They just… pulled back. Quietly.

And here’s the realization I had last week:

👉 Some people prefer the comfort of staying the same.

Same conversations. Same routines. Same frustrations.
That’s fine for them — but I’m not wired that way.

I can’t sit still. I need to be learning, building, testing new things, and evolving into what’s next, even when it’s uncomfortable and it might include some failures. And if you’re reading this, I’m guessing that’s you, too.

Here’s the hard truth:

💥 Growth will cost you some relationships.

But staying the same will cost you even more!

You’ll start to:
✅ Outgrow circles where small talk was the glue
✅ Crave deeper conversations and aligned connections
✅ Feel a shift in who shows up for you — and who fades out

And it’s not because you did anything wrong.

You’re becoming the person others said they wanted to be — but weren’t ready to pursue.

You’re living proof that it’s possible. And that can feel uncomfortable… for them.

You’re not “too much.”
You’re not leaving people behind.
You’re living out the growth you once dreamed of.

Keep going.
Keep serving.
Keep becoming. You’re doing the hard work and the heart work. And even when it costs you… it’s worth it.
